The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag

the unpopular opinions tag

Wonderful Noriko @ Diary of a Bookfiend tagged me for The Unpopular Opinions Book Tag and I’m really looking forward to answering these questions. I have some unpopular opinions to share so let’s go!

1. A popular book or book series that you didn’t like

2. A popular book or book series that everyone else seems to hate but you love

3. An OTP that you don’t like

Clara and Tucker from Unearthly trilogy by Cynthia Hand. I will forever ship her with Christian and nothing can change my mind.

4. A popular book genre that you hardly reach for

Historical fiction and non-fiction. I just rarely find books that interest me in these genres.

5. A popular/beloved character that you do not like

I mentioned Cedric Diggory while answering a question like this lately so I’ll try to come up with someone else. Hmm… Ooh, I have a great answer for this one! How could I forget about him? Four from Divergent. I never liked the guy and one of my friends low-key hates me for it because she loves Four in the movies (she hasn’t read the books and I believe it’s mostly because of Theo James). I just never liked him and never will. I just don’t see the appeal. I know I should like him because that’s the type of character I usually swoon over but I just didn’t click with him. Nope. Sorry.

6. A popular author that you can’t seem to get into

It’s not that I can’t get into her because I’ve never even tried reading her books. Sarah J. Mass. I don’t have any intention to read her books even though they do sound like something I would probably enjoy. My best friend is currently reading and loving ToG but I don’t really see myself ever reading that series or ACOTAR.

7. A popular book trope that you’re tired of seeing

None. I love all the tropes if they’re executed well. If something is good, I can never get tired of it. Cliches are cliches for a reason! But then again, if a trope is written very poorly and without a hint of originality, then I would probably hate it. So yeah, it’s a risk but I’m willing to take it.

8. A popular series that you have no interest in reading

I already mentioned Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses but I should probably come up with something else. I’ll go with Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. I haven’t read any of the books when I was a kid and I feel like I’m too old for it and I’m not really interested.

9. The saying goes “the book is always better than the movie”, but what movie or tv show adaptation do you prefer more than the book?

A Game of Thrones and The 100 are great tv shows that I truly adore. Now, The Song of Ice and Fire series is fantastic and so freakishly well done but the books are so dense and long and tv show is almost over and we are still waiting for a couple of books to come out. Therefore, I’m not saying GoT is neccessarily better as a tv show but as of right now I’m more invested in the show and like the storyline of it better. When it comes to The 100, I just prefere the tv show because it’s so well done and overall amazing and uniue while books are pretty much basic YA scifi and lack the depth and the complexity the show has.

I had so much fun answering these questions! If you’re new here, I love talking about everything I don’t like a lot better than about what I like so this tag is, as Noriko kindly said, perfect for me. It’s okay if you disagree with me, I’d love to know your thoughts so tell me how you feel in the comments!

  1. I put off reading the ToG books for so long and then my brother finally convinced me to read them and they were SO GOOD!!! The hype is real. But I still get if you want to stay away. I know some people have problems with her writing.
And thank you for tagging me!! I can’t wait to do this one!
