MY BLOGGING STORY

I’ve been blogging on and off since I was in middle-school. I’ve had blogs in both Croatian (my first language) and English. However, I never managed to stick to blogging and always gave up after some time. My best blog was the one I wrote in English, Book Monster (hence the name of the current blog – I wanted to change it, but not much) but due to lack of time because of school I lost my motivation and deleted it. I’ve tried blogging in Croatian again lat summer but didn’t feel very motivated since noone actually read it. However, I decided that this time it will be different (I say that every time, but whatever) and I want to try to keep this blog up for as long as possible. My blog is still fairly new (it’s been only a month) but I don’t consider myself a newbie in the whole blogging process (okay, this sounds very pretencious, I’m sorry). That’s pretty much it, the whole story: I’ve always liked the idea of blogging but as soon as I start feeling like I’m not putting all my effort in it and it doesn’t turn out the way I want, I give up.

MY ADVICE

In my opinion, the most important thing about blogging is that you do it because it makes YOU happy. Write about what you like, what you are passionate about and write about it in any way you want. Don’t feel intimidated about all those blogs with pretty pictures, beautiful aesthetic and wonderfully written text- You do you and people will recognise that. Even if noone reads your blog, if writing posts makes you happy, do it anyway. Just remember. it’s YOUR blog and you can put out the content you want. Don’t feel pressured to write posts that will get you a lot of views and likes if you don’t enjoy writing them. Enjoy yourself, it’s all that mattrs.

My second advice is to get involved in the community. Read other blog posts, follow bloggers who share you interests, like and comment… Make friends! I know it can sound a bit intimidating, but the blogging (and especially book blogging) community is so friendly and welcomng. I assure you, noone will think you’re annoying. Every like and comment means the world to every blogger out there. It means our work is appreciated and motivates us to continue. Therefore, it’s a win-win situation. You make friends and become a part of the community and other bloggers are happy because their effort is acknowledged. Don’t be scared to communicate, we’re all on the same level here!

MY NOMINEES

There is no way I’m going to nominate 15 bloggers, sorry. You are all amazing but I don’t want to nominate same people all the time. So here are my three nominees:

Eliza (DuskAngelReads)
La Valentinois (Buried in books)
Zezee (Zezee with Books)

That’s it. I like this award because I don’t have to come up with any questions and there are also not many questins to answer. Yeah, if you didn’t know that about me, I’m lazy. I guess this award should be named the Lazy Blogger Award haha.

  1. Great post! Your blogging advice is definitely something I can agree with. My blog has grown exponentially since I really started interacting with other members of the book community.

  2. I definitely agree– communicating with other bloggers and being active in the community is so important! Otherwise, it can start to feel like a really lonely bubble 🙂 Great post!

  3. Great post, Nika! I didn’t know you’ve been blogging (albeit on-and-off) since middle school! Wow, you’re certainly not a newbie…! I so enjoyed reading your story and advice. Your advice is simply great and wonderful. You know what? Your words always strike a chord with me. I can tell you are sincere and true to yourself. That’s the best quality as a blogger, I think. Let’s keep blogging 🙂
